End of Quarter- We have spent a lot of our end of the quarter on studying Canada for multi-cultural day. Today was such a fun and exciting time for all of us as we traveled the world to many different countries. I will get some pictures up later this afternoon for you all to check out our Canada display as well as some of the other countries we visited.
Spring Break Work- There is not much that I'm expecting students to do over break. This is a time for fun and relaxation. With that being said it is very important that we still stick to a routine. I am asking that students keep up with their flashcard practice a few times and also be ready to take an AR quiz on a chapter book when they return on Monday.
AR- The last day for AR quizzes was today. Students will get new AR levels and goals when we come back in April. I am sending a final report home this afternoon for you to look at. Please take a look at the progress from this quarter. Set some new goals with your students, and be looking for new levels to come home the first week after break.
Spelling- This week we really focused on compound words again as well as homophones (words that sound the same but mean different things). Examples include- dear/deer, one/won, and their/there/they're. We will take a test right when we get back so be sure to have students keep up on their words over break.
Math- We have finished up our unit on measurement. Students took tests right before break started. They will get their test back to go over and make corrections on as soon as they get back. Be waiting to see them. We are excited to move to a review on telling time, counting money and also studying data/graphing & probability.
Pioneers- When we get back from break students will be starting our pioneer simulation. There is NO need to plan anything special for that first day back. We will be having a few days of background and introduction before we actually get started. We will let kids know when they can dress up and be ready for the trail. Please remember that this unit will be very different than our usual schedule, so if you ever have any questions don't hesitate to let me know. The kids will get the most out of the simulation as they put effort into it. We will make sure they are all on track with what you need. Please refer to the informational sheet that I handed out to you at conferences to refresh your mind on our simulation before we do get started! I appreciate your help.
